Estádio especialmente marcado por conquistas do futebol brasileiro, o Yokohama Stadium foi inaugurado em 1998 na cidade de mesmo nome. O estádio foi palco da final da Copa do Mundo 2002, vencida pelo Brasil, por 2 a 0 sobre a Alemanha. Também sediou as finais do Campeonato Mundial de Clubes entre 2005 e 2008, 2011 e 2012. E como a seleção brasileira em 2002, o São Paulo em 2005, Internacional em 2006, e o Corinthians, atual campeão mundial, também se consagraram no estádio japonês.
